Bombardier, the UK rail technology leader and major engineering company, needed a faster, more engaging way to sift hundreds of graduate applications each year. Its existing online assessment process had a high drop-out rate and was time-consuming for the recruitment team, so SHL was brought in to refresh the graduate assessment experience, including the online testing stage with SHL Verify G+.
SHL replaced Bombardier’s previous ability test with a tailored version of SHL Verify G+, and also provided engineering-specific assessment centre exercises. The new process screened out 30% of candidates, reduced assessment-stage drop-out by 65%, and cut administration time significantly, while also showing no adverse impact by gender or country of origin. Bombardier reported a more relevant, modern, and positive candidate experience, with strong candidate quality and improved efficiency.
