A SHL Case Study
Five-Star Hotel Chain, a pan‑India luxury hotel group, needed to improve the effectiveness of its sales team and make better hiring decisions. To address this, they engaged SHL to benchmark and assess 78 sales personnel using SHL assessment modules covering English, Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability and personality measures.
SHL administered the assessments and compared scores to manager ratings on Sales Disposition, Self Management, English Communication and Product Knowledge. SHL found English, Logical Ability, Extraversion and Conscientiousness most strongly correlated with sales performance; personality predicted disposition and self‑management while logical ability linked to product knowledge. By applying targeted cutoffs on SHL assessment modules, the hotel chain could increase its high‑performing sales personnel and overall personnel efficiency by 67%.
