Hulu sought to establish itself as a destination for premium original content and to use the launch of Chance as a subscriber-acquisition tool by reaching a more mature, Gen X audience. To do this, Hulu partnered with Sharethrough and used Sharethrough’s native ad format, video distribution and content integrations to introduce that audience to Hulu’s programming.
Sharethrough executed a mix of native placements, PR, short-form video and TV/pre-roll spots, distributing Chance content across its network to drive viewership throughout season one. The campaign—supported by a Millward Brown research study—helped raise awareness and drive measurable increases in viewership and audience engagement, demonstrating Sharethrough’s native solutions’ effectiveness as a subscriber acquisition channel for Hulu.
