South West Water, the regional utility serving Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset, needed better IT project governance to support initiatives like mobile working and ERP adaptation. Using a mix of Microsoft Project, SharePoint and FrontRange HEAT left managers without consistent portfolio visibility, clear budgets, document control or standard processes across hundreds of concurrent projects.
Working with Focus Group Europe, South West Water spent about eight weeks defining processes and another eight building a custom project-governance app on the ServiceNow platform. The rollout delivered company-wide visibility, standardized processes and automated multi-step workflows for approvals and notifications, giving managers immediate insight, stronger accountability and easier reporting and configuration for ongoing improvement.
