Stepnell - Customer Case Study

Stepnell was appointed to transform the former 1965 Worcester News building into the University of Worcester’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson centre for health education. The project combined strip-out refurbishment with a new extension and demanded precise capture of the existing structure, tight coordination between designers and contractors, and accurate transfer of maintainable asset data from Revit models into a not-yet-installed CAFM system (Archibus). Aligning model parameters, managing point-cloud complexity and integrating multiple specialist teams presented a significant digital and delivery challenge.

The team established a BIM Level 2 framework and BIM Execution Plan, appointed Symetri for information management and SWG to configure Archibus, and created bespoke data mappings so model data could be exported directly into the CAFM. Scan-to-BIM, Solibri model checks and Oculo 360 capture were used for clash detection, progress monitoring and as-built verification. The result: Archibus is live, asset data now moves seamlessly from Revit into the CAFM, the university has adopted new BIM standards (EIR/AIR) for future projects, and Stepnell has a repeatable digital workflow and improved site visibility that reduces costly onsite changes.
