BigBasket, a leading online grocery and retail platform in India, needed a stronger way to protect sensitive customer data across its AWS-based environment while meeting the requirements of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and PCI standards. The company turned to Sentra to improve visibility into personally identifiable information and reduce security and compliance risk across its multi-cloud data estate.

Using Sentra’s automated data discovery and classification, prioritized risk assessment, and policy enforcement capabilities, BigBasket gained better control over sensitive data in services including RDS, S3, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Redis, Redshift, and EC2. As a result, BigBasket improved readiness for DPDPA and PCI-DSS compliance, reduced cloud storage costs by 20% through cleanup of shadow data, and strengthened its overall data security posture by identifying and remediating exposure and access risks.
