Utah Water Utility Uses Sensus Smart Gateway to Extend Monitoring Reach

The water utility for Park City, Utah, faced the challenge of gaining deeper insights into its water distribution system to improve customer service and proactively manage issues like pipe bursts and pressure loss. To address this, the customer partnered with vendor Sensus to find an affordable solution that would extend the capabilities of their existing Sensus AMI system.

Sensus provided its battery-powered Smart Gateway Sensor Interface, which was deployed at pressure reducing valve sites without power or landlines. This solution allowed Park City to monitor water pressure and flow in near real-time, enabling them to respond to a critical pressure spike immediately after deployment and prevent an incident. Based on this success, the city is expanding the Sensus solution to 24 more sites, expecting further benefits in operational performance, asset management, and water loss reduction.
