NV Energy Delivers Reliable Power Distribution with Sensus

NV Energy, a utility providing power to Las Vegas and northern Nevada, sought to create greater value for its customers by leveraging its existing communication infrastructure. Their challenge was to build upon their initial investment in Sensus's FlexNet® Communication Network to optimize grid assets and improve service without a costly new build-out.

The solution involved harnessing the Sensus FlexNet system as a backbone for a Distribution Automation (DA) initiative. This allowed NV Energy to deploy intelligent devices across the grid for real-time control and data analysis. The results were highly successful, yielding an estimated annual savings of $1.75 million, which is passed on to customers through lower rates. The Sensus implementation also provided superior reliability and faster operational control.
