A Sensus Case Study
Loudoun Water, a utility serving one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S., faced the challenge of inefficiently managing water resources for its 78,000 customers. Their manual meter reading process was arduous, leading to undetected leaks and an inability to proactively inform customers about usage. To create a more efficient system, the utility partnered with Sensus for a technology upgrade.
Sensus implemented its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution, which included iPERL and OMNI water meters connected by the FlexNet Communication Network. This allowed Loudoun Water to monitor usage in real-time and proactively address leaks. The results were significant; in one year, Sensus technology helped the utility identify and mitigate approximately 80% of leaks with an initial alert. This proactive approach prevented water waste and saved customers from high bills, transforming the utility's operations from reactive to efficient.
