HSE Darmstadt AG Implements Intelligent Water Management with iPERL from Sensus

HSE Darmstadt AG, the water utility in Darmstadt, Germany, needed a safer, more cost-effective way to manage drinking water metering, especially for 300 meters located in reservoirs that were previously read manually by two specially trained staff members. The company also wanted to meet growing customer demand for smart metering and improve the accuracy and efficiency of its water distribution operations. Sensus provided the iPERL water meter as the core technology.

Sensus implemented iPERL with integrated Sensus RF remote reading, allowing HSE Darmstadt to collect meter data remotely, eliminate manual readings for reservoir meters, and move toward reading all meters across its network within seven days. The solution improved customer service through fixed-date readings, enabled earlier leak detection with flow measurement down to one liter per hour, reduced pressure losses, and delivered more accurate consumption data for forecasting and public reporting. HSE said the system would increase reading capacity from 200 to 6,000 meters per day.
