ENTEGA, an energy and infrastructure services provider based in Darmstadt, faced the challenge of modernizing its water network to reduce the high personnel costs associated with manual meter reading and replacement, and to improve overall leakage monitoring. To develop a smart water solution, the utility chose to partner with vendor Sensus and deploy their smart water meter, the iPERL.

By implementing the Sensus iPERL meters with SensusRF drive-by reading technology, ENTEGA dramatically increased efficiency. The solution reduced meter reading costs by 75 percent, with projections of saving over two million euros within twelve years. Sensus enabled the utility to read 46,000 meters in just one week, improve leak detection, and offer new proactive customer services, all while ensuring data security.
