A Sensus Case Study
Cobb EMC, a large electric cooperative in Georgia, faced the challenge of leveraging its existing infrastructure to modernize its lighting management. The co-op wanted a solution to control its street lights more effectively while they were already replacing old fixtures with LEDs. To achieve this, they turned to vendor Sensus and implemented the Sensus VantagePoint Lighting Control system.
The Sensus solution integrated with the co-op's existing FlexNet communication network, enabling remote monitoring and control of street lights. This provided Cobb EMC with real-time outage alerts, allowing for swift repairs before customers even noticed an issue. The project, which plans for 60,000 smart lights, improved public safety, enhanced data integrity for billing, and allowed for proactive maintenance, all while conserving energy.
