Chesterfield County Integrates FlexNet to Conserve Capital and Water Resources

Chesterfield County Rural Water Company, a non-profit utility serving a large rural territory in South Carolina, faced challenges related to operational inefficiency, high costs, and environmental impact from its manual meter reading processes. To address this, they partnered with Sensus to implement the FlexNet Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution.

The Sensus FlexNet system provided comprehensive network coverage with a minimal number of base stations, enabling remote meter reading and near-real-time leak detection. The results were significant, including annual operational savings of over $45,000 from reduced vehicle use, a major decrease in unaccounted water loss, and improved customer service. Sensus's solution also drastically reduced the company's environmental footprint by saving over 11,000 gallons of gasoline annually.
