Borough of Monaca - Customer Case Study

The Borough of Monaca faced the challenge of an aging, leak-prone water system that was inefficient and costly to maintain. To work toward its sustainability goals, the borough required a solution that would reduce water loss, improve billing accuracy, and lower operational expenses, leading them to partner with vendor Sensus.

Sensus implemented its smart water network solution, which included the FlexNet communication system, iPERL water meters, and Permalog leak detection technology. The results were immediate, with the system identifying a major, long-standing leak wasting over 200,000 gallons daily and uncovering 191 previously unbilled customer accounts. The project is expected to save the borough $2.6 million by 2026, dramatically reducing water loss and operational costs.
