Berkeley County Water & Sanitation Takes Big Leap Forward with Big Data from Sensus

Berkeley County Water & Sanitation (BCWS) was faced with the challenge of turning the massive amount of data from its remote meter readings into actionable intelligence. The utility needed to better understand water consumption to serve its growing customer base and plan for the future, but lacked the tools to effectively analyze the information. To address this, they worked with Sensus to implement the FlexNet communication system and the Sensus Logic MDM Application Suite.

The solution from Sensus enabled BCWS to efficiently organize, process, and validate its meter data. This allowed the utility to notify customers of potential leaks within 24 hours, monitor for unauthorized usage, and equip repair crews more effectively. A key measurable result was that the time required to read all meters was drastically reduced from nearly three weeks to just two hours. With the intelligence provided by Sensus, BCWS can now make data-driven decisions to improve customer service and prepare for future demands.
