Benton PUD Builds a Foundation for the Future

Benton PUD, a utility serving over 50,000 customers in Washington state, needed to automate its meter reading to improve customer service and operational efficiency. To build a future-proof foundation, the utility chose to deploy an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution from Sensus.

Sensus implemented its FlexNet communication network and Stratus electricity meters, which provided remote connect/disconnect functionality and outage management. The results included a significantly improved outage response time and the ability to pinpoint previously undetected issues. For customers, Sensus enabled a new portal to monitor usage and plans for a prepay program, increasing the network's value over time for Benton PUD.
