HotelSpecials.nl is a Dutch hotel-room reseller offering discounted stays and curated packages across the Netherlands and neighboring countries. Its bi-weekly opt-in newsletter showed steady open and click rates but underperformed on actual bookings, and the team set a target to lift email-driven bookings by 15%.

Working with agency RapidSugar and the Selligent platform, they implemented a “seeding and harvesting” approach: track clicks on Monday emails over six weeks to build behavioral profiles, then send a dynamically personalized Thursday “Kofferpakker” tailored to each subscriber, and validate with an A/B test on 70,000 clickers over 11 weeks. The personalized program drove ~2.3x more clicks (≈132% lift) and ~2.5x more bookings (≈152% conversion lift), won DDMA Best Email Campaign 2015, and far exceeded the 15% bookings goal.
