Product Hunt Uses Segment to Make Data-Driven Redesign Decisions

Product Hunt, a New York–based tech community with a small engineering team, faced fragmented data across its iOS and Android apps, website, and servers. Reporting was slow and centralized with engineers, making it hard for product and growth teams to get reliable, timely insights needed to drive community growth and redesign decisions.

By adopting Segment (including a Segment-hosted Redshift warehouse), Product Hunt centralized omnichannel data and gave teams direct SQL access to clean, automated reports. That autonomy let them monitor redesigns via beta cohorts, track their core Product Discovery metric more easily, uncover the product “aha moment,” and shift time from running metrics to improving the product.
