How Taxfix created a single source of truth for customer data

Taxfix is a Berlin-based fintech that simplifies tax filing with a guided app that asks personalized questions, accepts payslip photos, and submits returns. As the company scaled, it needed a single source of truth for customer data to avoid a “data swamp,” ensure consistent, high-quality data, enable distributed ownership, automate naming/monitoring, and make data easy to discover and extract across teams.

Rather than build an in-house pipeline, Taxfix implemented Segment in one month—using Segment Protocols with their data catalog to validate schemas, catch tracking errors, and stream data to tools like Intercom and their A/B testing platform, while storing raw events in Snowflake for reprocessing. The result was stronger confidence in data and decisions, a scalable data lake, faster integrations, and more engineering time focused on product improvements that benefit customers.
