How StackCommerce made paid ad attribution more accurate with Segment

StackCommerce partners with publishers and merchants to create commerce content and turnkey on-site shops, but faced unreliable paid-ad attribution: users often clicked ads that led to publisher content before arriving at StackCommerce stores, and platforms like Facebook didn’t provide product-level reporting. Their homegrown pixel couldn’t reliably match ad clicks to final purchases, complicating partner reporting and revenue tracking.

To fix this, StackCommerce used Segment to build redirect links and an internal paid-ads schema, tracking anonymous user IDs from ad click through to product detail and sale. Segment produced more accurate attribution, automatically fed partner dashboards, and eliminated manual reporting—saving Account Managers hundreds of hours annually while improving transparency and scalability.
