Trunk Club, the Chicago-based personal-shopping retailer that pairs customers with stylists through its app and website, struggled to turn its growing volume of web, mobile and sales data into actionable insights. With events scattered across tools like Kissmetrics, Bright Tag and Google Analytics and no unified warehouse, the company couldn’t consistently track stylist and customer behavior or build data-driven features and catalogs.
By adopting Segment, Trunk Club centralized event tracking across iOS, Android, web and servers, routed data to needed tools, and loaded it into Amazon Redshift for a single source of truth. The change put data into the hands of about 100 nontechnical and technical users, sped product decisions and feature development, improved stylist recommendations and workflows, and made the business far more agile and data-driven.
