The Caledonian-Record, a 10,000-circulation daily newspaper in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, wanted to quickly launch a simple contest to boost revenue, grow its email list, and increase pageviews for its annual Bridal Guide. Using Second Street Lab’s contest platform, the paper ran a Bridal Guide cover contest with one exclusive sponsor, Jackson’s Lodge.
Second Street Lab helped The Caledonian-Record execute the contest and drive strong engagement, resulting in more than 60,000 votes, 75,000 page views, and nearly 300 email opt-ins. The contest generated $3,000 in direct revenue, and the resulting premium Bridal Guide special section added another $10,000, while also creating over 50 editorial-ready submissions and attracting sponsor interest for the following year.
