San Diego CityBeat, a 50,000-circulation alt weekly in San Diego, partnered with Second Street Lab to help launch a contest for Bean Bar, a new coffee shop in East Village. The challenge was to build excitement around the grand opening, drive foot traffic, and give CityBeat a strong first advertiser promotion using a sweepstakes-style campaign and voucher offer.
Second Street Lab ran the Bean Bar sweepstakes across CityBeat’s website and Facebook channels, supported by email promotion and a thank-you page that offered a $3 voucher to every entrant. The campaign delivered 597 participants and 720 total entries, generated $1,200 in revenue for San Diego CityBeat, brought 3 customers in to redeem vouchers within the first hour, and created an opt-in email list Bean Bar later used for its own marketing.
