The Central Kitsap Reporter, a small paper in Silverdale, Washington and part of Sound Publishing, wanted a way to engage readers, tap into local football excitement, and bring in new revenue. They turned to Second Street Lab’s contest platform to launch a “Biggest Fan” photo contest that could attract a sponsor and drive participation.
Second Street Lab helped the Central Kitsap Reporter run and promote the contest with print, online, and social placements for sponsor Clearwater Casino Resort. The campaign generated $6,250 in revenue from entirely new business, plus strong audience engagement with 289 registered users, 900 votes, over 7,600 pageviews, and 152 email opt-ins, while more than half of entries came from mobile devices.
