A Second Street Lab Case Study
Post and Courier, a 65,000-circulation newspaper in Charleston, SC, wanted to launch its first citywide ballot but needed a way to drive community engagement and new revenue. Using Second Street Lab’s interactive ballot platform for “Charleston’s Choice,” the paper set out to create an inclusive promotion that would appeal to local businesses and readers across the market.
Second Street Lab helped Post and Courier execute a three-phase campaign covering nominations, voting, and a celebration event, supported by promotional toolkits, category sponsorships, print ads, and event sponsorships. The results were strong: 6,000 businesses were nominated, 200,000 votes were cast by 21,000 registered users, 450+ people attended the event, and Post and Courier generated over $250,000 in revenue from digital ads, print ads, and sponsorships.
