A Second Street Lab Case Study
The News Tribune, a Tacoma newspaper in The McClatchy Company, wanted to build on the success of its earlier golf card promotion and create a new way to attract both readers and advertisers. Working with Second Street Lab, the team developed a multi-merchant Pizza Card to target local restaurants and generate revenue from new advertisers.
Second Street Lab helped The News Tribune launch the $40-for-$140 Pizza Card with email, site banners, and social promotion, plus a larger advertising package for participating merchants. The promotion sold 250 cards and generated more than $9,000 in revenue, with 100% of the revenue kept by the paper; its success also led The News Tribune to plan future food-themed cards, including a Burger Card and a Pizza Card relaunch.
