Kansas City Royals Quiz Taken 40,000 Times in First Week

WDAF-TV, a Tribune Broadcasting station in Kansas City, wanted to capitalize on the excitement around the Royals’ 2014 World Series run and engage a broad local audience with a timely, shareable promotion. Working with Second Street Lab’s quiz solution, WDAF-TV launched a “Which Royals Player Are You?” personality quiz designed to drive fan interaction across TV and social channels.

Second Street Lab helped WDAF-TV create and promote the quiz, which was shared on Facebook, Twitter, and on-air by the station’s anchors, with extra buzz after Royals player Billy Butler tweeted his result. The campaign went viral, generating 20,000 takes in the first 24 hours, 40,000 in the first week, and 47,554 total entries in less than a month, while also sparking advertiser interest for future quizzes.
