Idol Video Contest Drives $22K for Station

KAKE-TV, a Wichita, KS station, wanted to build excitement around American Idol while generating station revenue. Working with Second Street Lab and its contest tools, the station created a local “KAKE Idol” video contest to engage viewers, spotlight local talent, and attract sponsorship support.

Second Street Lab helped KAKE-TV run nominations, voting, and promotion across on-air spots, email, social media, and the morning show, with Credit Union of America as title sponsor. The campaign delivered more than 100 video entries, over 4,400 votes, a Facebook reach of 517,000, and $22,000 in sponsorship revenue.
