First-Time High School Football Ballot Scores 11K Votes and $5K

The Daily Sentinel, a Grand Junction, Colorado newspaper from Seaton Publishing, wanted to engage its core readers while attracting younger adults with a community-focused high school football ballot. It partnered with Second Street Lab and used a digital and social promotion built around local football rivalries to reach a wider audience and support a title sponsor.

Second Street Lab helped The Daily Sentinel launch the ballot across print, web, mobile, email, and social channels, with registration questions designed to capture age and other demographic data. The campaign delivered 11,315 votes from 413 registered users, generated $5,000 in sponsorship revenue, and boosted website traffic by 20.6%, while also helping the paper engage a younger demographic.
