A Second Street Lab Case Study
The Lexington Herald-Leader, part of McClatchy’s dealsaver network, needed a fresh way to win deals from top local restaurants after struggling with traditional half-price offers. Working with Second Street Lab’s dealsaver-style promotion, the paper created a multi-merchant Burger Basket Card that bundled a cheeseburger and side from six restaurants into one simple offer.
Second Street Lab helped the Lexington Herald-Leader launch the card with a trade-based advertising package instead of a revenue split, giving restaurants promotional value while keeping 100% of the revenue with the media company. The campaign sold 733 cards and generated $14,660 in revenue, added many new users to the database, and was successful enough to be brought back the following year with even more restaurants.
