Swisscom: Creating a Central, Agile Data Warehouse to Speed Up Processes and Better Serve the Business

Swisscom, Switzerland's leading telecommunications company, faced the challenge of managing three separate, aging SAP Business Warehouse systems. This complex and outdated infrastructure was slow, expensive to maintain, and lacked the flexibility to quickly respond to business needs for financial closing and reporting. They initiated the OneBI project to consolidate these systems into a single, modern, and agile data warehouse.

SAP implemented a new data warehouse using SAP Business Warehouse powered by SAP HANA. This solution replaced multiple third-party applications, standardized interfaces, and enabled real-time data provisioning. The results for Swisscom were significant: they achieved an 80% reduction in reports, shrunk their data warehouse from 8 TB to 2 TB, and reduced the time for a full data reload from months to just 60 hours, greatly accelerating business processes and decision-making.
