Pilz GmbH & Co. KG, a German leader in safety automation since 1948 with about 2,500 employees and €403 million in revenue, needed to modernize its IT landscape to support global growth and innovation. Facing two partly implemented ERP systems, disparate processes across 40 subsidiaries, and a desire to enable IoT use cases and better transparency, Pilz sought a groupwide cloud transformation to harmonize processes, reduce custom code, and improve data reliability and user experience.

Working with SAP Services and Support and using RISE with SAP and SAP S/4HANA Cloud (private edition) plus Sales & Service and Commerce Cloud solutions, Pilz developed a clear transformation plan and target architecture, including prerequisites, third‑party evaluations, and change‑management concepts. The engagement produced a defined project plan for a 40‑location rollout and is expected to boost process efficiency, cut custom code, improve data transparency, and position Pilz for future optimizations and real‑time IoT scenarios.
