Case Study: American Eagle Outfitters achieves streamlined procurement and improved compliance with SAP Concur

A SAP Concur Case Study

Preview of the American Eagle Outfitters Case Study

Refashioning procurement processes and vendor relationships with digital solutions

American Eagle Outfitters (AEO), a global retail portfolio with stores and online sales across dozens of countries, faced decentralized purchasing, thousands of suppliers, and high invoice volumes that made compliance and vendor onboarding difficult. With purchasing responsibilities spread across business partners, AEO needed a digital transformation to centralize procure-to-pay processes, standardize indirect purchasing, and improve change management and tax/transaction rules across regions.

AEO implemented SAP Business Network for Procurement and SAP Ariba solutions (Contracts, Sourcing, Spend Analysis, guided buying) with Concur integration, supplier enablement waves, training, and custom taxonomy and workflows. The result: consolidated spend visibility across seven source systems and more efficient vendor collaboration, driving ~85% PO compliance (5% above target), ~75% invoice-count compliance for tens of thousands of annual invoices, and more than US$780 million transacted on the network—reducing manual follow-ups and improving sourcing insights and cost savings.
