A SAP Concur Case Study
Molina Healthcare, a managed-care provider serving more than 4 million people with about 7,000 employees, struggled as travel and expense volume grew—from roughly 22,000 reports in 2012 to over 52,000 by 2014. Their existing Concur Travel and Expense setup was focused on accounting automation, not user experience, resulting in duplicate steps, manual mileage logs, late and delinquent submissions, poor visibility into spend, and weak policy enforcement.
Molina reconfigured SAP Concur for automation and ease-of-use, tightened T&E and corporate card policies, and rolled out the Concur mobile app, ExpenseIt, and Mileage Tracker. Those changes drove stronger policy adherence (including suspending cards with charges over 60 days), improved mileage accuracy, faster processing, and greater spend visibility—delivering $70,000 in savings on out-of-compliance expenses, reducing delinquent balances, and enabling 52,000+ reports to be managed by a six-person team.
