Major Research University Achieves Smart Savings with Concur

Temple University, a major research institution with about 12,000 faculty and staff across five campuses, processed 18,000 paper expense reports annually with one full-time processor and had no visibility into more than $9.5M in travel spend. An attempted ERP travel-and-expense module could not scale to the university’s needs, leaving excessive paper storage, slow reimbursements and limited control over travel costs.

Temple implemented Concur Travel & Expense and Concur for Mobile to automate travel booking, expense reporting and e-receipts, centralizing spend data and eliminating paper. The rollout cut reimbursement time by nearly 50%, reduced travel agency booking fees by about 60% (helping keep the system budget-neutral), improved visibility to pursue volume discounts, and enabled staff to book travel and submit expenses from virtually anywhere.
