Transforming the patient journey with digital solutions on a modern monetization platform

F. Hoffmann-La Roche sought to transform the patient journey by evolving from a manufacturer of physical products into a provider of digital healthcare ecosystems. Their legacy IT, built for physical goods, could not support subscription, entitlement and monetization needs, so Roche selected SAP β€” including SAP Commerce Cloud alongside SAP Subscription Billing and SAP Entitlement Management β€” to build a Software Monetization Platform to commercialize its digital products.

In close co-innovation with SAP (and implementation partners), Roche deployed a cloud-based Software Monetization Platform centered on SAP Subscription Billing and SAP Entitlement Management, with SAP Commerce Cloud used in a proof-of-concept for partner commerce. The MVP went live in 4.5 months and after one year was active in 16 countries, supporting 53 digital products without manual intervention, integrating with eight enterprise systems and enabling scale to 59 affiliates β€” delivering standardized IT, faster time-to-market and markedly improved user satisfaction.
