How is Valora revolutionizing the shopping experience

Valora, the operator of roughly 2,700 retail outlets (Press & Books, k kiosk, avec, Ditsch, BackWerk), wanted to revolutionize convenience shopping by creating a cashless, customer‑centric store experience that tied onboarding, billing, CRM and marketing into an expandable SAP-based backend. To achieve this, Valora partnered with SAP Commerce Cloud and the broader SAP C/4HANA suite to deliver a mobile-first, app-driven checkout and customer-data solution.

Using SAP Commerce Cloud as the web‑shop front end within SAP C/4HANA (plus SAP Customer Data Cloud, SAP Marketing Cloud and SAP ERP), Valora launched the avec box — Switzerland’s first cashless convenience store — in just six months. Shoppers scan items into a digital basket via the app and are billed on exit; the implementation centralized goods and finance, ensured GDPR compliance, enabled personalized offers, and delivered 24/7 cashless shopping — all built on the scalable SAP Commerce Cloud platform.
