Helping Customers Cut Order Processing Costs by 75 Percent and Shorten Cycle Times by Five Days through E-Business

Dell faced growing customer demands for electronic procurement and needed to move large buyers onto the Ariba Network to retain business and eliminate lengthy, manual procure-to-pay processes. The challenge was to provide a full suite of e‑business capabilities while improving order accuracy, speeding fulfillment, and cutting operational costs.

Dell joined the Ariba Network and launched PremierConnect, offering cXML ordering, PunchOut catalogs, PO‑Flip, e‑invoicing, advanced ship notices and online payment options, plus integration support and an ROI calculator to speed adoption. As a result, more than 1,500 customers are now electronically integrated (nearly 300 on Ariba), Ariba customer spend grew 37%, order processing costs have fallen by up to 75% and cycle times shortened by five days, while B2B revenue and buyer relationships surged (95% and 50%, respectively) and customer satisfaction doubled.
