Steel & Tube, New Zealand’s oldest and largest steel distributor with over 60 years’ experience serving trade, manufacturing and construction, set out to modernize its online presence and make the web store a one‑stop shop. Faced with a manually maintained web store tied to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, the company needed an ERP‑integrated e‑commerce solution to make customers more self‑sufficient, provide richer product and pricing information, and improve convenience—urgently so as COVID‑19 disrupted normal operations.
Sana Commerce delivered two customized web stores in 90 days, putting more than 7,000 products online and connecting them in real time to Dynamics AX. The new portal gives customers 24/7 access to product details, custom pricing, invoices, payments and order history, saving time for both customers and internal teams. Steel & Tube also implemented click‑and‑collect to maintain fulfillment during lockdowns and now has a scalable, future‑proof platform ready for a PIM and a planned upgrade to Dynamics 365.
