Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District - Customer Case Study

Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District is a small municipal water provider near Peyton, Colorado, serving thousands of households and businesses. Faced with a fragmented legacy SCADA setup—mixed radio, cellular and Wi‑Fi links, multiple PLCs, an on‑prem server, and a single‑user VPN that caused connectivity and reliability problems—the district needed a simpler, more reliable way to monitor and control its water and wastewater systems.

Working with Samsara and integrator Winn‑Marion, Woodmen Hills migrated to a cloud‑based SCADA platform with pre‑provisioned cellular Industrial Controllers, consolidating 1,400 tags from 17 wells, filtration plants, and transfer stations in a single day. The new system eliminated the on‑prem server, enabled real‑time monitoring and control (pumps, chlorine dosing, flows, pressures), unlimited concurrent users, and instant alerts—resulting in more reliable operations, faster response to issues, easier expansion, and greater peace of mind.
