Central Texas Water Supply - Customer Case Study

Central Texas Water Supply is a wholesale water provider delivering over 20 million gallons per day to 18 entities across four counties. Faced with frequent connectivity failures and the impending shutdown of their legacy SCADA vendor — which relied on slow two-way radio updates — the utility needed a more reliable, easy-to-manage system to prevent service interruptions, speed incident response, and retain self-sufficiency for routine configuration changes.

They deployed Samsara’s cloud-based SCADA and cellular-enabled Industrial Controllers across 23 sites, enabling real-time monitoring, remote variables, and centrally authored IEC 61131‑3 control logic pushed to local controllers. The solution restored reliable, seconds‑level visibility, automated valve and pump control to maintain pressure and flows, allowed on-the-fly dashboard edits from mobile devices, and reduced capital and operating costs — delivering continuous, higher-quality service with noticeably improved efficiency and productivity.
