Streamlining the Service Experience in America's Original Planetarium

Adler Planetarium, America’s first public planetarium and a Chicago cultural institution, brought IT in-house and needed a simple, integrated service desk to replace manual processes. The team faced cumbersome technology purchasing and approval workflows driven by Excel spreadsheets, paper signatures, and fragmented communication across departments including Accounting, HR and Facilities.

Adler implemented the Samanage Service Platform service catalog and application integrations to build forms, predefined workflows and automated approvals. Catalog items for purchasing, laptop checkout, onboarding/offboarding and facilities requests (like keys) routed tasks, shared information with Accounting and triggered API-driven actions, cutting paperwork, reducing manual steps, speeding service delivery and boosting staff and end‑user satisfaction.
