Stonewall Kitchen Tailors Its Checkout Processes To Meet Customers’ Needs

Stonewall Kitchen, a specialty foods company that grew from a 1991 farmers’ market stall into a multi-channel brand with 450+ products and a busy York, Maine headquarters, needed a faster, more scalable way to innovate online and lift conversions. To manage growth and offload infrastructure, the company migrated to Salesforce Commerce Cloud in 2016 and then focused on optimizing the checkout experience to better serve shoppers and reduce abandonment.

Working with Salesforce’s Retail Practice, Stonewall Kitchen used Commerce Cloud’s out-of-the-box tools plus benchmarking, UX/heat-map analysis, mobile optimization, and customer roundtables to prioritize agile changes: making guest checkout prominent, removing two clicks, and consolidating checkout paths and calls to action. After the late-August 2016 launch, conversion rates rose from 2.5% in August to 3.44% in September and continued to improve through Q3 and Q4.
