Icebreaker Uses Machine Learning to Power Product Recommendations

Icebreaker, a New Zealand outdoor apparel brand known for merino base layers and clothing sold in over 5,000 stores across 50 countries, needed smarter personalization to meet shopper expectations. After using an alternative recommendation engine, Icebreaker tested Commerce Cloud Einstein’s Product Recommendations to see if a fully integrated solution could deliver more relevant suggestions and higher conversion.

By embedding Commerce Cloud Einstein across its six global sites, Icebreaker deployed real-time “You may also like” and “Designed to go with” recommendations that learn from shopper behavior. The A/B test showed 40% higher clicks on recommended items, 28% more revenue from recommendations, and an 11% increase in average order value, plus easier setup, lower integration overhead, and better overall performance.
