Plaid matches half of card-present transactions with SafeGraph

Plaid, a fintech company that provides data connectivity for financial applications, faced a challenge with noisy and ambiguous transaction data from financial institutions. This made it difficult for end-users to recognize merchants and understand their financial activities. To improve their Enrich and Transactions API products, Plaid sought an external provider for accurate merchant location information and partnered with SafeGraph.

SafeGraph’s Places dataset was implemented for its accuracy and rich metadata. This integration allowed Plaid to match approximately half of all card-present transactions to a precise merchant location, significantly enriching the data they provide. The solution from SafeGraph also reduced the need for extensive QA processes, saving Plaid considerable time and resources and allowing the team to focus on strategic business objectives.
