Case Study: BMW achieves centralized 37-language localization with RWS (SDL WorldServer & MultiTerm Workflow)

A RWS Case Study

Preview of the BMW Case Study

World-leading premium automobile manufacturer centralizes and consolidates localization assets in 37 languages

BMW Group, a world-leading premium automobile manufacturer, faced fragmented localization across aftersales and marketing with varied sourcing models, isolated translation memories and terminology, limited vendor engagement and no transparent view of global localization costs — and needed a scalable, reliable system able to handle more than 200 million words a year across 37 languages.

Working with SDL, BMW consolidated translation memories and terminology and deployed SDL WorldServer and SDL MultiTerm Workflow, integrating with 22 content-management systems and onboarding approved vendors and reviewers. The centralized solution automated over 90% of pre/post-processing, supported high-volume peak workloads, improved brand consistency and time-to-market, delivered translation cost transparency and raised productivity while reducing maintenance and support costs.
