A RWS Case Study
VisitBritain, the national tourism agency charged with marketing Britain worldwide, manages a large, multilingual web presence and needed to deliver timely, personalized information—especially during crises such as the foot-and-mouth outbreak. Juggling dozens of sites (originally 34 sites in 19 languages) and rapid, multi-language updates exposed limits in its content management approach and prompted a review of its web publishing strategy.
VisitBritain implemented SDL Tridion Sites with BluePrinting to reuse content across sites, enable editors to publish without technical skills, and centralize workflow and personalization. The platform supported a coordinated roll-out (including simultaneous multi-language launches) and growth to 34 country sites, 12 city sites and visitengland.com; web visits rose from 537,453 to 940,639 in two years and the improved online presence is estimated to add up to £15 million in annual tourism revenue, with faster publishing and more relevant, timely information.
