A RWS Case Study
Babel DGT is a Mexico City–based translation agency (seven staff plus a network of freelancers) founded by Rodrigo Vasquez that specializes in patent translation and has evolved into a process re‑engineering consultancy. The company faced time‑consuming, error‑prone workflows caused by graphic‑rich PDFs, complex formulae and inconsistent terminology, plus client concerns about security and resistance among some freelancers to new tools and practices.
Babel DGT introduced a "pre‑translator" role and adopted SDL Trados Studio, GroupShare and SDL Language Cloud MT to pre‑format documents, filter non‑translatable elements, reuse translation memories and apply adaptive machine translation. The result: improved formatting and terminology consistency, stronger file security, up to 50% faster turnaround for translators, fewer patent errors and the ability to expand the business into patent process consultancy.
