US Government Publishing Office publishes thousands of pages of federal documents with XPP

The US Government Publishing Office needed to replace a 30-year-old, home-grown mainframe publishing system with a modern digital workflow that could deliver secure, high-fidelity, high-speed output for large volumes of federal documents. To meet these requirements, the agency turned to RWS and its XPP technology as part of the new XML-based XPub publishing solution.

RWS helped US Government Publishing Office implement XPP as an embedded component of XPub, enabling simultaneous production of legislative and regulatory content in print and digital formats from XML, digital files, and hard-copy manuscripts. The initial project produced more than 60,000 pages across 54 volumes in less than a year, cutting the timeline from 1.5 years while delivering a scalable, flexible, high-performance publishing process.
