U.S. Army - Customer Case Study

The U.S. Army 2nd Infantry ROK–U.S. Combined Division, a 10,000‑personnel unit in the aerospace and defense sector conducting multinational peacekeeping, faced a persistent language barrier between American and Korean staff. They required a secure, fast, high‑quality translation capability that would integrate with their existing chat client, reduce dependence on a small pool of interpreters, and outperform dictionary-based, word‑for‑word approaches while meeting military security requirements.

An on‑premises deployment of SDL Machine Translation (now Language Weaver®) passed all security and quality checks and was integrated with the chat software in about two days. The solution cut document translation time from up to two months to a single day, improved translation quality, and delivered instant chat translation for all users—speeding communication, accelerating issue resolution, and reducing misunderstandings.
